Resort fashion, also known as cruise or pre-spring collections, are those released by designers between the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons from November to January.  Cruise collections cater to those eager to escape the winter in favour of warmer destinations, hence the name “resort”. Without the pressure of runway shows during traditional fashion seasons, Resort collections are often lighter and more playful, giving designers the freedom to experiment with casual, more wearable styles. Here are three of the most creative collections from Resort 2025:

Bottega Veneta

Matthieu Blazy’s Bottega Veneta Resort 2025 collection featured a lively array of colours, textures, and patterns. Blazy told Vogue that his pre-season collection has “no big concept” and “it was more about: how can we put things together when it comes together and when it comes to the individual ingredients, does it make your heart beat?” The collection was oriented around  the feeling of whimsy, nostalgia, as opposed to a specific narrative or overarching theme. This allowed Blazy to focus on the emotional resonance of each piece, celebrating the joy of dressing with a sense of spontaneity and personal expression. He  went on to compare the collection to cooking, “it was like in Italy, where the ingredients are good, you don’t need to do much with it.” The true charm of Bottega Veneta’s 2025 Resort collection lies in its meticulously crafted details and standout accessories—most notably a leopard-print tie, vibrant orange heels adorned with floral embellishments, and a striking red snakeskin bag. Each piece serves as a statement of individuality, making Bottega a stand-out among the 2025 Resort lineup.

    Alexander McQueen

Without the high stakes of a runway show, Sean McGirr’s newest McQueen collection feels more suited for everyday wear, as compared to their typically more formal lines, that still maintains the brand’s notorious aristocratic-punk edge. The designer shared that  English school uniforms served as the inspiration for McQueen’s Resort 2025 collection, but the classic fit was reimagined with an unconventional twist—double-breasted jackets were tailored especially tightly, cargo pants were styled with a hyper-exaggerated slouch, and dress shirts were dramatically oversized. The collection’s royal red colour palette, plaids, and use of fur make it a perfect fit for the opulent aesthetic of the 2023 film Saltburn. McGirr’s designs incorporate a fragmented image of Velázquez’s Portrait of Pope Innocent X, reimagined and pieced together on both a pajama set and an asymmetrical dress, adding to the collection’s sense of extravagance.

    Valentino

Just two months after being appointed creative director, Alessandro Michele is releasing his first Resort collection for Valentino, titled Avant les Débuts. The collection features 171 ready-to-wear looks. The debonair collection pays tribute to the eclectic fashion of the ’70s, showcasing a color palette of salmon pinks, cream, and brown, complemented by fur accents. Michele hinted at drawing inspiration from Valentino’s iconic “hippy chic” and feminine refinement of the 1970s, emphasizing how these influences have shaped his vision. Since stepping into the role of creative director,  Michele underscored his commitment to preserving the brand’s design integrity, carefully fusing modern interpretations without losing the rich and authentic heritage of Valentino. His work reflects a true balance between honouring the brand’s legacy and pushing it forward with a fresh perspective.
